Technical Breakthrough: Smart Conversion from Single Line to Dual Line

The innovation of the ABB RLM01 module lies in its bidirectional conversion capability, enabling the "Line M ⇄ Line A/B" smart conversion. This allows existing single-line PROFIBUS networks to be upgraded to a fully redundant dual-line architecture without the need to overhaul the entire network infrastructure.

Bidirectional Redundancy

This module can create two mutually backed-up PROFIBUS lines (Line A and Line B). If the main line fails, the system can automatically switch to the backup line.

Expansion Capability

Each RLM01 module's PROFIBUS interface can connect up to 31 PROFIBUS stations and work in conjunction with repeaters [R] and media converters [O/E] (such as fiber-optic converters).

Built-in Signal Regeneration

The module features advanced repeater functionality, effectively regenerating and boosting PROFIBUS signals. This not only extends the bus transmission distance but also increases the number of connectable stations.
