EPRO PR6423/003-030 Eddy Current Sensor
The EPRO PR6423/003-030 is a high-precision, non-contact eddy current sensor developed by EPRO (now part of Emerson AMS). This sensor measures radial and axial dynamic displacement, static position, shaft eccentricity, and rotational speed of shafts.
Technical principle: The coil at the probe tip of the PR6423/003-030 carries a high-frequency current, generating an alternating magnetic field. When the probe approaches a metallic target, such as a rotating shaft, eddy currents are induced on the target surface. The magnetic field generated by the eddy currents alters the impedance of the probe coil. Impedance variation has a unique linear relationship with the gap between the probe and the target. A compatible signal conditioner, such as CON011 or CON021, converts this impedance variation into a standard electrical output signal.
